About the Conference

On behalf of the Organizing Committees, we are honoured and delighted to invite you to participate in the Platinum Jubilee Conference on Advances in Functional Solids (AFS 2026), which will be held from November 27 to 30, 2026, at IIT Research Park, Kolkata. This edition of the conference aims to create a dynamic environment for presenting the latest research, encouraging inter-disciplinary discussions, poster exhibitions, and nurturing collaborations that contribute to scientific progress and the global exchange of ideas in emerging areas of functional solids.

The proposed conference is crucial for expanding cutting-edge research on functional solids, specifically focusing on semiconductors, quantum materials, photonics, and energy science. The swift advancement in the synthesis, structural design, and sophisticated characterisation of solids has facilitated...

About the Department

The Department of Chemistry in IIT Kharagpur, the brainchild of Sir Jnan Chandra Ghosh, a pioneering Experimental Chemist and the first Director of the Institute, was started in 1951. The department hosts about 32 faculty members engaged in frontier research embracing both basic and applied areas of chemistry. About 170 young research scholars are currently pursuing their doctoral studies in the department. The department offers Integrated MSc (through IIT JEE) and Joint MSc PhD (through JAM) programs. Equipped with state-of-the art experimental and computational facilities, the department is engaged in several national and international collaborations with different academic and research institutions as well as industries. On the occasion of the International year of Chemistry...
